The Martin Yale 2051, formerly known as the Intimus 2051, is a fully automatic machine. Great measures have been taken by Martin Yale to limit the manual effort needed to get this machine up and running. The control panel is very easy to use. Simply select the fold you want to create, via the fold select button, and the folding plates will adjust themselves. There is no manual effort required to set up the folding plates, which is a huge benefit for businesses that need to get operations up and going quickly. Another advantage of the automatic folding plates is the accuracy. The skew and alignment on this machine is dead on and very professional.
Preset guides and folds on this machine are designed to work with 8 1/2" x 11", 8 1/2" x 14", 11" x 17", A3 and A4 paper. Built in folds include C, Z, single, double parallel, gate and other folds. Buttons on the control panel allow the operator to easily tweak and adjust this machine for custom folds. It can store up to 10 custom folds, which is very nice for a print shop or copy center. It has a minimum paper size of 2.5" x 5.2" and a maximum paper size of 12" x 18". It handles paper ranging in thickness from 18# bond up to 90# index.
Operating at a speed of up to 15,000 sheets per hour, you will have your folding projects done in no time. One feature I really like is the 500 sheet capacity of the feed table. This is about the same amount of paper as you will find in a ream of paper. No pre-fanning of the paper is required. Simply drop your stack of paper in the machine and you're ready to go.
This is a fairly robust machine and has a net weight of almost 225 pounds. When I unboxed it, it took a couple of us to lift it up onto a countertop. Be sure your table or desk can support the wait. While heavy, it just goes to show you how much metal is used in its construction.
