    Product Overview:

Twin loop wire binding continues to be a popular binding format for businesses. This is due in part to its high quality appearance, wide range of colored supplies and uniquely professional finish. While finished wire binding looks complex, the wire binding process is remarkably easy to do. One machine you may want to consider using for your own binding operations is the Akiles WireMac.

Akiles has a great reputation with comb, coil and wire binding machines. Their lineup of wire binding machines are especially popular due to their superior build quality and appearance. In an age when many manufacturers are opting for cheaper plastic designs, Akiles continues to use solid metal components.

The Akiles WireMac is one of the most widely circulated manual wire binding machines. It is found in businesses around the world and is one of Akiles' first wire binding machines ever produced. This machine features a high quality metal finish with unique ergonomic wood handles. Functionality aside, it is a good looking machine.

The WireMac comes in two different variations. One is a 2:1 pitch (two holes per inch) and the other is a 3:1 pitch (three holes per inch). In a nutshell, one hole pattern has holes closer together and the other farther apart. While the 2:1 pitch does bind more sheets of paper at a time, it usually boils down to personal preference. The 2:1 pitch version is more popular, but they both look great.

One thing that Akiles machines are known for is their features. The WireMac comes with several features that are often only found in higher-end or more expensive machines. Some of these unique features include a wire selector dial, punching depth control, fully disengageable punching pins and a wire snatch (helps hold wire while inserting paper).

The disengageable punching pins, sometimes called selectable punching dies, are especially nice for punching through odd-sizes, small sizes and large sizes of paper. This format allows the operator to disable a punching pin, eliminating half-punched holes. This is also nice if you are using a thumb cut punch for binding calendars.

Using this machine is easy. Simply select set the margin depth and side margin control prior to punching paper. Keep punching paper until you are done with your stack. Both versions of this machine punch about 20 sheets of paper at a time. It can also be used to punch clear covers and card stock. Once you have finished punching your paper, use the wire snatch to keep the wire in place while you insert the wire through the holes. Now adjust the wire closer to sync with the diameter wire you are using and close the wire shut. That's it!

While that may seem like a complex set of instructions, it takes most people just a minute or two to bind a 1/4" report or presentation. This machine is commonly used for binding booklets, instructional manuals, presentations reports and more. The end results simply look great!
