A photocell sensor detects paper and turns the shredder on and off as needed. Another sensor will turn the shredder off if the head is removed from the base. This shredder is available in both a cross cut and strip cut design. The hardened steel cutting head can handle staples and paper clips. The strip cut version can even shred credit cards.
