General Questions/Answer:
What's a foil stamper?
Basically, a foil stamping machine presses the typeholder into the foil which then imprints the foiled image onto the product. This is caused by the pressure and the heat involved by the machine. These foil stamping machines are used to present a professional look on products, material, documentations, and to personalize items, company logos, names, luggage and much more.
What can I make with a foil stamping machine?
These machines are able to stamp individual names, monograms, corporate logos and multiple line imprinting in gold, silver or any pigment color. The machines are capable of printing on leather, (luggage is mostly used with the Model 64), vinyl binders, document folders, stationery, napkins, cards, plastic badges, acetate, bibles, wallets, pencils, award ribbons, wedding ribbons and much more.
What is the maximum thickness the foil stamping machines will stamp?
The Models 64, 86, and 86 A/A have adjustable heads allowing 6" in-between the platform and the typeholder. The Model 55 has about 1" in-between the platform and typeholder. Most items are not a concern for the maximum thickness. A great example is a thick book - you can open the cover page and place it between the typeholder and platform to press the foil into place.
Why don't the Models 55, 64, 86, and 86 A/A come with a typeholder as a standard item? Does this mean it will cost more?
These models do not come with the typeholder because these models are more of a custom order, and there are different typeholders to choose from to best fit your needs. Yes, you will need to add the typeholder to the price of the machine and for every additional option.
What type of cleaning and or maintenance is involved with a foil stamping machine?
These machine are very clean and really do not require any specific cleaning. Maintenance involved with a foil stamping machine depends highly on how you use the machine. They are very durable and are made to last. If you take care of a machine like these they could provide many years of service without any type of maintenance or cleaning.
Does the foil stamping machine come with a warranty?
Yes, most foil stamping machines do come with a one year warranty. Please be sure to check the specifications of the machine.
What is the difference between the different models of foil stamping machines?
The Model 55 is the perfect machine for small businesses and can be easily transported from home to office. The Model 64 has an adjustable head with a curved base making it easy to imprint luggage, sports bags, and more. The Model 86 is a machine for commercial manufacturers and retailers: adjustable type head, large print area, and heavy duty. The Model 86 A/A provides the operator with increased speed and accuracy and eliminates manual fatigue and misprints. Pressure and dwell are automatically controlled by the air unit to provide a perfect imprint every time.
What typeholder is best for my needs in my business?
There are two types of typeholders, single and multi. Single typeholders will hold a single line of type. The number of characters that will fit into the typeholder depends upon the font size selected. Multi-typeholders allow more than just one line of information and again the number of characters that will fit into the typeholder depends upon the font size selected.

What is difference between foil stamping and embossing?
Foil stamping is the process of applying a flat, non-tarnish able metallic effect to stock (paper, plastic, paper board, etc.), and requires a metal die. Foil stamping is also called Flat Stamping, Hot Stamping, Gold Stamping, Blocking or Leafing. Stamping comes in other styles such as leather, wood grain and holograms making the creative possibilities endless.
Embossing is a raised or indented image on stock, and requires an etched metal die and a matching counter die. Embossing works by pressing the image onto the paper stock between a heated die and a counter die.
