Formax Line Of Paper Shredders Reviewed

Finding the right paper shredder can be tricky, even difficult at times. Those charged with the task of finding a paper shredder for the office can relate. It is difficult to find a place to begin, and ultimately once the shredder is purchased, you don’t want to be the one blamed for the POS shredder sitting in the office. A few years ago Formax released a line of durable metal-made shredders. They haven’t looked back.

One of the biggest complaints regarding paper shredders is their plastic components. Plastic gears, eventually, will ream themselves out. It’s inevitable. Plastic housings on shredders will eventually, again with time, crack or become damaged. The one constant, agreed by most consumers, that makes a shredder "great," is metal.

Formax Paper Shredders Formax paper shredders are made from metal, and I have had the opportunity to use them. The shredder housing is metal, the gears are metal and the shredder blades themselves are made from hardened steel. The shredder blades are designed not only to handle paper, but also take staples, paper clips and credit cards.

One thing I found enlightening about the Formax shredder was the user interface. It wasn’t that it had tons of bells and whistles, but that it was simple. It can be very frustrating, when using a piece of office equipment, trying to get a machine to work. This frustration is commonly shared by many when using a copy machine. With the formax shredders, the modern technology is all there, but there are only three buttons. These are start, stop and reverse.

Another thing a business department can truly appreciate in a shredder is a continuous duty motor. In the past, paper shredders required a "cool down" period if used too much. Some low-end shredders simply burnt out the motor. The Formax paper shredders have thermally protected motors. This means they are designed to be used on a constant basis, throughout the day.

Changing the bag from a shredder can be messy business. Many shredders require removal of the shredder head to empty the bag. Departmental Formax paper shredders have a cabinet-style door that provides for easy access to the full bag. A bag full indicator and door ajar sensor make it easy to know when to change the bag and if the door is properly secure for resumed operation.

Overall, the Formax line of paper shredders gets high marks. Although time will ultimately determine the longevity of the relatively new Formax line of shredders, the models tested have held up for two years and continue to run strong.

If your business is in need of a shredder, or a replacement, consider looking at Formax brand paper shredders. Contact Office Zone for more information on paper shredders.
