How To Choose The Best Corner Rounder

Corner Rounders Corner rounders are an important part of literature and paper distribution. Corners are cut off of playing cards, greeting cards, photographs, business cards and much more. Many corner rounders are capable of cutting the corners off of hundreds of sheets at a time and some unique models can even cut through aluminum. Here are a few common questions you may want to review prior to buying your corner rounder.

How many sheets would you like to cut at a time?

The higher volume of corners you need to cut, the more robust a machine you will need to use. Many corner rounders are capable of cutting a ½ inch stack of paper. Some corner rounders cut as few as one sheet at a time. Be sure you get a machine that is capable of cutting the amount of sheets you need.

How often will you use your corner rounder?

Different corner rounders are available depending on the frequency of use. Be aware that the longer the handle on the corner rounding machine, the more leverage there is and the easier it will be to cut corners. This means if you are cutting hundreds to thousands of sheets, you will want an easy-to-use machine. Some machines also come with a larger base, making it easier to cut larger sheets of paper.

Will you be cutting anything other than paper?

Sometimes you may need to round the corners of something other than paper. Many corner rounding machines can cut the corners off of laminated paper without a problem. This also includes thin plastic. Be sure to check ahead of time if this is a possibility.

Some higher-end corner rounders are even capable of cutting aluminum. This includes the CR-60 corner rounder, which can cut up to 0.08-inch of pure aluminum. This is ideal for rounding the corners on signs and other aluminum materials.

What corner diameter do you prefer?

Most corner rounders feature interchangeable dies with different size radiuses. This is especially nice for those who need to change from a 1/8-inch die to a ½-inch die. This also eliminates the need to buy multiple machines. If you think you may need different sizes of corner cutting dies, be sure to check ahead of time to see if this is an option.

Are there any electric corner rounders?

Although less common, electric corner rounders do exist. An example of this is the Diamond-5 corner rounder from Akiles. The Diamond-5 can round corners with the push of a button. While electric corner rounders are nice for industrial jobs, manual corner rounders are designed to require little manual effort.
