Martin Yale is one of the leading manufacturers of paper folding machines. The manufacture nearly a dozen different models including the popular 1501X, 1217A, 1611 and many others. The Martin Yale 1711 AutoFolder is what's known as an automatic paper folding machine. While there is some manual effort involved (pushing a few buttons), the majority of the work is done by the machine. To achieve automatic status, a paper folding machine must be able to adjust it's own folding plates via built-in motors. As is the case with the 1711, simply select the fold you want to create and it will automatically adjust itself. This is hugely beneficial for precision and time. The 1711 is one of the least expensive automatic folding machines on the market.
This paper folding machine comes with 6 built in folds. These are the single fold, letter fold, Z fold, double parallel fold, cross fold and baronial fold. It takes the Martin Yale 1711 a few seconds to adjust, but once done it is ready to start folding paper. Buttons on the control panel allow for additional adjustments if needed, including the ability to create your own custom folds. For maintenance and cleaning purposes, each of the two folding plates can be removed, which is a hug plus over enclosed systems.
The feed system on the 1711 is a huge improvement over older Martin Yale systems. Rather than pre-fanning the paper, simply lower the feed tray and drop in your stack of paper. The machine will automatically peel a sheet of paper from the top of the stack and fold it. A manual bypass slot, located on the top of the machine, allows you to feed up to 5 sheets of stapled paper at a time. This multi-sheet option is unique and not available on most paper folding machines. A powered exit conveyor helps keep folded paper in order and neatly stacked. This is also a huge improvement over other Martin Yale machines, like the 1501x, which simply shoot paper out into a catch tray.
The 1711 AutoFolder can handle paper up to 8 1/2" x 14" and accepts paper ranging in thickness from 16# bond up to 70# index. It also has a sheet capacity of 150 sheets.
