Question
Please explain to me the difference between your crosscut and strip cut paper shredders.
Answer
Strip cut shredders create thin strips of paper after the paper is shredded. These strips range in size from a half-inch to 1/16-inch wide. Strip cut shredders require less cutting action from the machine than do crosscut shredders. Because less cutting is required, strip cut paper shredders shred more documents at a time than do cross cut shredders.
Cross cut shredders basically create crisscross cut pieces of paper. These crisscross pieces vary in size from 1/32” x 3/16” (Level 6 high security) to 5/32″ x 1-1/8″ (Level 3 security). Although cross cut paper shredders do not shred documents as quickly, crosscut shredders provide more security
to shredded materials vs. strip cut shredders. The shredder byproduct has less volume and requires less bin emptying and trips to the dumpster.

Question
Here’s what I’m looking for: A time clock that can down load time and attendance from a remote location. Our company is out of Texas and we work crews in PA and having a real problem with getting time back to Texas, can you help. Would like some kind of card system that employee would swipe and could be down loaded to a computer and email back to Corp. office. Should be able to keep up with about 100 to 150 employees.
If you have something I might be interested in email me or call.
Thanks
Lynn H.
Answer
The TimeTrax Pro Swipe System from Pyramid Technologies can receive time and attendance information from remote locations. It features an
optional Modem Kit that enables the system to virtually link all office branches together as one. And, the attendance software may be upgraded from the standard 50 employees to 9,999 employees.
Many of our customers find it convenient and relatively simple to keep track of employee time with the TimeTrax Pro. This terminal/software combination is a great addition to most any business or organization. It allows you to grow from a single terminal to a multi-terminal system. The Windows-based software is straightforward to install, and is compatible with many popular payroll programs such as PAYCHEX, QuickBooks and ADP.

Question
Hello,
I’m looking for a fully automatic paper cutter with cut precision of 0.2mm or better that can be used for cutting cardstock of 140lb weight rating. The cutter should have a computer interface for programming and be able to perform straight and curved precision cuts keeping the paper edge clean as if cut by a manual guillotine. Please send me a list of available machines and specifications. Cutting speed is not important.
Thank You
Marcin K.
Answer
You could make that precise cut and more with the new highly accurate Duplo 490P Hydraulic Paper Cutter. This impressive paper cutter can
actually slice through three inches of paper. The 490P model includes a computer digital display with programmable options. Duplo is well known for their high-quality machines and the 490P cutter is certainly no exception.

Question
I am a High School football coach and I am looking for a way to track player attendance. Looking for either a punch card system, card swipe, or key pad system that would work for us. Anything that uses a computer would be a simple tracking of names, time in and out, and attendance tracker. Willing to go as high as $1,500 for this.
Thanks,
John R.
Answer
Now that’s a very interesting way of tracking football practice attendance. Good idea! I believe we have just the system for your need. Office Zone
carries the TimeTrax Bio employee time clock. This relatively new model from Pyramid Technologies is a highly simple, yet sophisticated time management system.
The TimeTrax Bio tracks up to 75 individuals, and is upgradeable to as many as 150. The TimeTrax Bio simply uses a person’s fingerprint to log in and out. This is type of time tracking system is consistently growing in popularity because it eliminates time cards and thwarts unethical behavior such as buddy punching. This model easily interfaces with a computer to help you track attendance and create all sorts of useful reports.

Question
Hello – I need to be able to shrink wrap small batches of DVDs – approximately 50 – 100 per month. I don’t like the “heat gun” machines as doing 50 at a time is rather time consuming. Do you think the compack 5800 machine is what we should be looking at – or do you recommend something else?
Martin S.
Answer
Shrink wrap machines with a heat gun and I-bar sealer are definitely a convenience, but using a shrink wrap system with a built-in heat tunnel is like a dream come true. Shrink wrap machines that feature a heat
chamber/tunnel system speed up the entire process by leaps and bounds.
If you need to shrink wrap DVDs, the Compack 5800 will most definitely save you precious time and effort. Once you’ve installed the roll of shrink film on the side of the unit, all you have to do is insert your DVD into the film, place it in the heat chamber, push down the lid, and the machine does the rest. This is all accomplished in just a few seconds. You can see a very helpful video demo of the Compack 5800 here.

Question
Could you please tell me if this product requires blade changing (or sharpening), how often and how much is the cost per blade.
Thank you!
Michael M.
Answer
The blades on the CardMate business card cutter are not changeable, and cannot be re-sharpened. This is an entry level, low-volume use machine.
That means it should last you for at least a few years with light to moderate use. It’s a desktop business card cutting model intended for small home offices or other similar uses.
We do offer other more robust machines that come with blades that may be re-sharpened or replaced. Still, the CardMate is a terrific value. You can quickly and easily create business cards right from your desk. There is no power requirement with the CardMate. You simply turn a manual hand crank that pulls business card stock paper through the machine while making the desired cut. After only a couple passes through the unit, you have professionally trimmed business cards.
The CardMate actually pays for itself after just one business card cutting job. The CardMate is lightweight and can may be easily transported from one location to another.

Question
We are a small CPA firm considering changing our binding equipment. Our typical binding project is tax returns and financial statements. Please send us information on binding equipment that would meet our needs.
Thank you for your help.
Jeri H.
Answer
Your clients would appreciate their next statement delivered in a professional looking coil bound format. There are several advantages to using coil binding. For starters, coil is virtually indestructible. If you need to
send a client their tax return or financial statement in the mail, you can rest assured that the binding element will still look great. That’s because it’s crush or bend-proof and can survive just about any abuse that may occur during shipping. You can’t say that about wire binding. You can also bind up to 230 pages with the 4:1 pitch models. This covers most binding needs for our customers.
Coil-bound documents also lie flat on a desk or table. You won’t have to worry about the pages closing by themselves. This means a much more user-friendly reading experience. For your particular needs we highly recommend the Akiles CoilMac-EPI Plus. Its easy to use, highly durable, and features a handy electric motor that helps you punch and insert coils in seconds.
The Coilmac EPI Plus has one unique feature that is a decided advantage over most coil binding machines in its price range. It punches oval-shaped holes in a 4:1 pitch format. This alone increases coil insertion time by up to 50%. Oval holes are much more easy to work with when compared to round.

Question
Greetings!
I manage a weekly bingo session. Several weeks ago we got hit with numerous $20’s and one $10 bill that a verification pen failed to catch. What are the best options for a non-profit organization to combat this? I’ve seen the on-line products, but don’t want to spend hours perusing the internet.
Thanks for any advice you might have.
Steve D.
Answer
If you’re processing a moderate amount of bills, then the Cassida 3300 Automatic Counterfeit Detector should work well for you. This may be a relatively small-sized detector, but don’t let is appearance mislead you. It has a lot of advanced detection features packed into its small body.
The Cassida 3300 has a scanner that quickly identifies the value of the bill,
and simultaneously runs a list of counterfeit checks on it with both magnetic and infrared detection tools. The machine will let you know if the bill is authentic or fake in less than a second! It has visual and sound alerts for suspect bills. This is a simple to set up and easy to operate unit and comes highly recommended from our customers.

Question
I was wondering if we wanted a bigger throat size could we replace what is already on there? We would like to do about 100 sheets of paper at a time. We destroy cds, film, negatives, dvds, vhs, and paper. Please let me know what you would recommend. Thank you.
Heather T.
Answer
You could possibly modify the throat size of the Infostroyer 301, but that still would not change its paper shredding capacity. This particular model,
manufactured by Applied Magnetics, is rated at shredding 30 sheets of paper at once. If you try to shred more, the machine will quickly wear out. The motor is only powerful enough to shred 30 sheets at once. But keep in mind that 30 sheets is still a very high amount of paper for a shredder/disintegrator. There are some paper shredders that can actually shred 100 sheets of paper or more at a time; but these are not high security shredders, nor are they NSA approved.

Question
We have been in the printing business since 2006. I have been outsourcing my press orders for the last 3 years, and now i had just decided to do everything in house, so I need a paper cutter that would help us start doing this. We are looking at the MBM Triumph 6550-EP Automatic Stack Cutter. Please help.
Mary U.
Answer
If you need a cutter to slice through high volumes of paper on a daily basis, then the 6550-EP Stack Cutter is an excellent choice. This machine will
actually cut a stack of paper three inches thick … that’s almost two reams of 20 lb. bond paper!
With the push of two buttons, the 6550-EP starts the cutting process with an automatic clamp that secures the paper. Then, a heavy-duty knife follows and quickly makes the desired cut. You may also program the machine to repeat frequently performed cuts. Lining up stacks of paper is made simple thanks to the handy optical cutting line.
We actually have a MBM Triumph 6550-EP Automatic Stack Cutter in our warehouse. We’ve used it for several years for trimming composition covers, report covers, business cards, papers and other similar items. The machine is not only durable but extremely reliable. It comes highly recommended.
