Our company needs a good, reliable binding machine. We have had two – and neither is good. On a busy week, we will bind 25-30 reports sometimes more, sometimes less. Reports are 10-50 pages. Is there someone who can show us equipment? Thanks
What binding machines are you currently using? That would better help us recommend the optimum model for you. However, we can offer a few tips and suggestions. Most of our customers prefer coil binding machines. Coil binding machines create a durable, practical and easy-to-use document, report, presentation or booklet. You could effectively create your reports with this type of binding machine.
Coil (or spiral) binding machines offer several advantages. The binding coils are available in a wide variety of diameters and colors. Binding coils are made from PVC plastic that are very durable, they cannot be smashed. Coil bound books also lay flat and pages can be completely wrapped around.
There is not one coil binding machine that is deemed the best. We do, however, label models that are popular with our customers by designating them with a highly coveted “customer choice” label. If we were pressed to make a choice, Akiles brand binding machines come highly recommended. They have a highly regarded reputation in the office equipment industry and have a solid performance record as well.
I will need a business card cutter that will be able to cut 100 lb or 16 pt paper weight, as well as be able to handle volumes of up to 24k to 48k a month. Do you have anything that can handle these specs? If so, could you send me the info?
Thanks for your help!
We recommend for you the GC210 Gutter Cut Business Card Cutter. It will handle the business card cutting volume you require. You can quickly and professionally cut an 8.5 x 11-inch sheet of paper down to 10 individual business cards in a matter of seconds with this versatile cutter from Martin Yale Industries.
This gutter cut business card cutter can trim bleed style or regular style print jobs. The blades are crafted from high-quality, hardened steel and are self-sharpening. This means you don’t have to worry about sharpening dull blades for a very long time. These commercial-grade blades can cut through 100 lb. linen stock.
My company is looking into redesigning the look of our sales pitches. Currently we use coil binding with a transparent cover. We are wanting to upgrade our look and find a more polished presentation for these pitches.
Our needs are:
must lay flat when open
page range is anywhere from 3 pages to 40 pages
cost effective (we send hundreds of pitches out)
the ability to change out pages at a moment’s notice would be nice but not necessary
can’t be too time consuming because we produce so many
You may have a better idea than us of what might work best given our needs, though we are especially interested in switching to wire binding.
Wire binding machines can create professional-looking documents in just minutes. Most of our customers use a wire binding machine to punch and bind proposals, school reports, books, manuals and more. Wire bound documents lay flat, are easy to open and give your document a high-quality appearance. We sell both manual and electric wire binding machines. Wire binding machines are available in three hole punch formats: 3:1 pitch, 2:1 pitch and the lesser-known 19 ring format.
Both 3:1 and 2:1 pitch binding styles have their own unique advantages and disadvantages. The 2:1 pitch format will bind much thicker books than 3:1, due to hole spacing. But the 3:1 pitch has a tighter, more presentable look that most of our customers prefer. Office Zone’s wire binding supplies are available in several popular colors and diameters.
If production time is a concern, we recommend you use the WireMac-E Wire Binder. The electric punch feature on this machine alone will save you a significant amount of time and effort.
I am looking for a comb binding machine to use in my classroom. What I like to do is cut the combs into pieces and then make a book. Do you have a machine that would allow me to only use about 6 prongs on a comb for an 9 by 12 piece of paper. I want to be able to set which holes I would like to punch. The electric one we have at school puts in all these extra holes. I want to be able to not have extra holes.
We recommend the EcoBind-C comb binding machine from Akiles. This model is ideally suited for schools due to its relatively low cost and durability. This model has all the features you need in a comb binder. It is perfect for use with letter-size or smaller documents. The EcoBind-C comes with disengageable dies. This means you can punch only six holes at a time (or however many you require) and leave the rest of the document untouched.
The EcoBind-C helps you bind books up to two-inches in thickness. It also includes a handy selectable punching depth feature. This lets you punch pages close to edge of the paper stack — or further in — depending on your needs.
The EcoBind-C comb binder is an affordable method to get yourself into a lightweight, compact and reliable machine. This is a great looking model that has all the quality features Akiles is known for, and it fits quite comfortably into any work or school environment.
We recently recorded a video demo of the Intelli-Fold IF300 paper folding machine. My first impressions of this little folding machine are pretty high. While it isn’t designed for heavy-volume folding, it is a great little desktop folding machine that can be used on just about any desk or table for quick letter folding. I will include the video demo in this post.
Here are just a few quick specs on the IF300. To begin with, it is designed to fold standard 8 ½” x 11″ paper and can be used to create letter folds, accordion folds, single folds and much more. It has two manually adjusted folding plates that can even be set for many custom folds.
The feed tray holds up to 100 sheets of paper. The control panel allows the operator to adjust the speed or even batch fold paper. A digital counter lets you know exactly how many sheets you have folded. These features, and many others, set the IF300 apart from the competition.
So here you go! Our video demonstration of the Intelli-Fold IF300 from Intelli-Zone:
Can you tell me if you sale a 24” trimmer that can trim a metal plate for a printing press? We have a CTP Computer to Plate System for processing 6 and 8 mil metal plates for production printing.
Please let me know.
We recommend the Foster Keencut SteelTrak cutter. The SteelTrak is one of the strongest, most accurate cutters available today. The majority of our customers use the SteelTrak cutter for sign making, but you can cut thin metal printing press plates with it as well. The machine also cuts 3mm MDF Board, 3mm Flexible Polycarbonate, 5mm Dibond® & Alumalite®. The unit can cut almost any material.
The SteelTrak cutter requires no special training to operate. It was specifically designed to eliminate costly cutting mistakes. The machine includes a utility blade, scoring blade, glass scoring wheel, a twin wheel cutting head and more. It features a full-length silicone grip, pressure-sensitive clamping mechanism that make the cutter easy to operate.
Can you manually insert up to three sheets of paper at a time on the IF 300?
No, the Intelli-Fold IF300 from Intelli-Zone will not fold three sheets of paper at once. If you are looking for a paper folding machine in the $200-$300 range that can do this, then the Dahle 10560 letter folder is the machine for you. The 10560 will fold three sheets at once, thanks to a special bypass portal strategically located on the top of the unit. But we must warn you that the end folding results can sometimes be mixed. It’s a tricky proposition to get a paper folding machine to accurately and consistently fold multiple sheets in one pass, especially in this price range. But if you absolutely must do this, then the Dahle model has our vote.
The Intelli-Fold model IF300, however, is a terrific value for the price. This little paper folder can handle most of your daily low-volume paper folding jobs. You can create some of the most common folds with the IF300 such as letter folds (C Fold), accordion folds (Z Fold) single folds and others. You can even adjust the fold plates to create unique, custom folds. This compact new paper folding machine is an attractive model and may be used in schools, businesses, home offices, churches and more.
I have a quick question! I noticed that this machine advertises a 1” binding size for wire 3:1, but the description states that it has a binding capacity of 20 sheets, which is far less than 1”. Can you help clarify?
The SircleBind CW-4500 binding machine can punch and bind documents for both wire and plastic comb binding elements. The machine has two punching slots, one for 3:1 pitch wire and the other for comb. An electric motor in the CW-4500 makes it quick and easy to punch paper. It also features a plastic binding comb opener/closer and wire closer.
When you mentioned the binding capacity of the machine, the terminology should actually be punch capacity. You can punch between 20-25 sheets at a time with the CW-4500. You can then bind up to 120 sheets with 9/16-inch diameter, 3:1 pitch wire. Or, you can bind up to 425 sheets of paper with a 2-inch plastic binding comb.
I am looking to purchase a new commercial paper cutter. We currently have a Powerline Martin Yale Model 7000E. I was wondering if you have any feedback from customers who have purchased the Tamerica Guillomax Manual cutter. Thanks for your help.
Have a Blessed Day,
Lee’s Summit, MO
Yes, we’ve received a significant amount of feedback about the Tamerica Guillomax paper cutter. So far, the results have been somewhat mixed. Before we sell a Guillomax unit we are careful to explain to our customers what the machine can and cannot do. If you are expecting a heavy-duty, high-volume machine at an economical price, you will be disappointed. This cutter is a low- to medium-volume unit. If you need to manually cut large amounts of paper each business day, then the MBM Triumph 4705 is the model we recommend.
However, if you do need an affordable stack paper cutter for smaller volume cutting needs, the Tamerica Guillomax may be just the cutter for you. This stack guillotine-style cutter is almost entirely made from durable metal. It features a handy grid for proper paper alignment, and cuts a stack of paper by pulling the metal handle that brings down the blade.
The Guillomax is rated to cut up to 325 sheets of new 20 lb. paper at a time. After some extensive testing at Office Zone we did note that it is not easy to remove and insert the cutting sticks on the Guillomax. This process does take some time and patience. The machine comes with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty.
I do not know much about laminating products, so what I am looking for is a plastic laminate that can be written on and erased either pencil pen or marker.
What more can you say about lamination film? It’s highly versatile and offers several benefits to the end user. It not only protects your documents, art projects and photographs, but it gives the final product a professional look and shine. You mentioned yet another benefit of plastic lamination film. You can write on its surface with a magic marker, pen or grease pencil. You can try a regular No. 2 pencil, but it doesn’t work quite as well as a marker.
Office Zone offers a wide selection of laminating pouches, in stock and ready to ship. Our warehouse is loaded with laminate and our prices are the lowest available online. Our laminator pouches come in a variety of sizes and thicknesses. We are more than likely to have the size you need. Popular sizes include letter, pouch, business card pouches, ID badge size and more.
