Question
Hello -
I’m looking for a solution to a book binding problem we have. We have a bottleneck in our production at the binding machine. Currently, our 2:1 binding machine only has the capacity to punch 20 pages at a time.
We make about 50 wire-bound books a day, so it’s not a lot, but the time spent punching the holes is too much. Can you help me understand what our options are for maximum punch capacity? Price wise, we’d like to stay under $750.
Thank you,
Megan D.
Answer
We can help speed up your production volume by about five sheets per punch. The Intelli-Bind IM1000 Electric Multipunch Machine will punch through 25 sheets of 20 lb. bond paper at a time. This paper punch from Intelli-Zone was designed for high-volume document binding punching. It is offered with your choice of punching dies including 2:1 wire, 3:1 wire, 19-ring comb and 3:1 wire with a thumb cut for calendars.
The included foot pedal makes it possible to hold paper with both hands while punching. This unique feature alone helps speed up binding production in a significant way. The Intelli-Bind IM1000 does not cost under $750, but it’s definitely in the neighborhood of your budget. It is the ideal punching machine for long-run binding jobs and is typically used by our customers as an accessory to other document binding machines.

Question
Good morning,
We’re a very small family business, and I’ve been given $150 to spend on a paper folder. I found your website (which is an excellent site by the way) and am interested in the IF300. Do you happen to have a used machine that would fit within my budget?
Thanks for your consideration,
Tom W.
Answer
We currently do not have a used IF300 paper folder in your price range. However, if your small business is looking for an easy-to-use model for occasional business letter folding, the Premier P6200 Paper Folder by Martin Yale may just be the right choice for you. This versatile folder will fold three sheets of 20 lb. paper at a time. The P6200 was designed to fold an occasional letter or two. This particular model was not designed for continuous, high-volume letter folding. Most of our customers place the unit on a desk top for convenient access.
The Martin Yale P6200 has an optical sensor that automatically detects paper as it is placed inside the machine, activating the paper folding rollers. The P6200 is capable of only executing a letter fold (C fold), and is non-adjustable. If you are able to invest about $150 more, you can then get a paper folder than will do a variety of fold types.

Question
Hello, my company is trying to find a way to quickly and accurately count stickers that we produce. They measure 4 inches by 8 inches and are a vinyl sticker on a paper backer. Would this be something that your paper counting machines would be able to do without peeling the sticker from its backer? Do you have any suggestions on which one would work best? We need to count them into groups of 10.
Kacey O.
Answer
We recommend the Max Bantam paper counter. Manufactured by U.S. Paper Counters in Cairo, NY, this unit is relatively easy to set up and accurate. This entry-level model in the paper counting family is capable of executing up to 2,000 counts per minute (CPM) on 25-250 gsm paper. We have successfully test counted stacks of stickers similar to yours in the past. You are welcome to send us samples for testing.
Unlike several competing models that simply count paper based on weight, the Max-Bantam provides an exact number by literally counting each sheet. We have had prospective customers in the past question the accuracy of this machine. We actually have a Max Bantam in the offices of Office Zone and frequently test the unit with various paper samples. We have placed the same stack of paper on the machine, counting it multiple times, and the Max Bantam consistently provides the exact same number of sheets. It is indeed highly accurate.
The Max-Bantam comes loaded with several useful features. Besides counting high volumes of paper, it also has tab insertion and batch counting capabilities. All you have to do is the Max Bantam to place a tab into every 5 to 999 sheets. The tab insertion depth may even be adjusted. The tabs are then fed from a paper tab roll. Be sure to call Office Zone to learn more about the Max-Bantam paper counter.

Question
Dear Office Zone,
Which of your shredders would fit well a standard brown-paper grocery bag in the receptacle container? I would like to use my brown paper grocery bags instead of plastic bags to receive and hold the shredded material. This simple convenience will drive my choice of shredder.
Thanks,
Sam
Answer
We recommend the Fellowes P-35C paper shredder. This relatively small shredder fits under most desks and is designed for home use. You can easily fit a paper grocery bag in its shred receptacle area. The shredder’s blades are capable of shredding up to five sheets of paper into secure Level 3 particles that measure only 5/32″ x 1-1/2″.

Question
I’m interested in the Model 124 cutter (cuts 24″) for my school to replace a broken cutter. Is this model suitable to cut bristol board, construction paper and other papers of similar material?
Thanks,
Laura
Answer
You can quickly and easily trim bristol board, construction paper, photographs and other papers with the Dahle 124 Paper Trimmer. The Dahle 124 offers a convenient gray-coated particleboard with a grid printed in 1/2-inch increments for precision cutting. Due to the cutter’s unique blade design, no safety latch is required. The blade will not unexpectedly fly up or drop down on unsuspecting fingers on its own. This type of paper cutter is typically found in copy shops, schools, churches and small businesses.

Question
Could you please provide a recommendation for: Industrial Shredder (Needed to shred large volumes of high impact paper, paper clips, credit cards, CD’s and cardboard boxes). Need at least a 79 gallon capacity bin for security level 3 cross cut that will adequately shred the sensitive financial and personnel documents. – Thermal Switch
Thank you,
Jamie H.
Answer
We recommend the HSM FA 400.2 Premium Paper Shredder. This powerful model can shred a wide variety of paper weights. Its wide shred throat is ideal for shredding just about any type of supplies used in an office environment. It will securely destroy sensitive information and handle a wide variety of paper products including oversized legal documents, computer printouts, file folders and cardboard. You may also shred CDs, credit cards, ID badges, paper clips and other items that you typically cannot shred with a common office paper shredder. Combined with the HSM model 40VL baler, you may efficiently shred large quantities of paper, and then form the paper into a bale for easy disposal.

Question
Dear Sir / Madam,
We are a firm of security printers, based in the UK. I have an overseas client that is interested in a machine for signing cheques. I note from your web site that you market various machines:
I understand, first of all, that these machines would be capable of printing a signature on to a cheque? Can you please confirm? I was wondering also if you could advise which model would be the most suitable for my customer.
We are tendering for the printing of their cheques, continuous format, size 3.1/3” x 215 mm wide (including sprockets), single part, and a quantity of 2,000 – 10,000. My client is in Africa and, with all due respect to them, would be looking for something cheap and cheerful, and not too complicated.
Could you please advise?
Regards,
Cas A.
Answer
Yes, all of the models listed will print a signature on to a check. However, some models are more automated than others. If you need a machine that’s affordable, yet capable of signing up to 10,000 checks, we recommend the Martin Yale 930A Check Signer.
Check signers are highly efficient and significantly increase productivity. Some of our customers who now own an automatic check signer, had to in the past manually sign hundreds of payroll or accounts payable checks a week. A check signer machine can do it in minutes. Using check signing machines saves considerable time and prevents writer’s cramp.

Question
I am looking for a paper counter. Do you have anything that will count paper coupons 10 inches long.
Christopher M.
Answer
Yes, we have several paper counter models that will tally your coupons. Most of our customers who use a paper counting machine generally include printers, copy shops, government agencies, and several other varieties of businesses and organizations. Paper counting machines quickly and precisely count large stacks of paper in merely seconds.
Paper counters also help businesses inventory the paper they use in operations. Some of our customers report that a paper counter comes in handy when they need to do an inventory of available promotional mailers such a postcards or other marketing materials. Copy shops like paper counters because they can give their clients a precise count (99.9 percent accurate) of printed pieces in a print job. Some competing paper counting machines on the market merely measure the thickness of a stack of paper or provide an estimated count based on the weight of the paper. The models we offer from U.S. Paper Counters actually count every single sheet of paper.

Question
I have an IF300, and we have now gone to legal size paper which it cannot fold. Do you have an adapter that I could purchase so that I can still use my machine?
Ron W.
Answer
Unfortunately most paper folding machines in the price range of the IF300 will not fold legal-size paper. Some of the models that are priced $100-$200 higher than the IF 300 will half-fold legal sized sheets, but that’s it. They will not process 8-1/2 x 14 paper into a letter fold format. We recommend you upgrade to the Intelli-Fold Model DE-102AF Automatic Paper Folder. The De-102AF works well with legal-sized paper and is currently priced at $794 … a terrific value when you consider its versatility.

Question
To Whom It May Concern:
I am inquiring about the Amano PIX-15 Electronic Time Recorder is it possible to request a personal set message for the machine? We would like to see if we are able to have the machine say “Received by Haas Automation Human Resources” or “Received by Human Resources”?
Thank you for your time and respond,
Nancy A.
Answer
The Amano PIX-15 Electronic Time Recorder unfortunately cannot be modified to print your personal message. However, you can record time and imprint a customized message with the Acroprint ETC Time and Date Stamp. Optional engraved plates let you imprint specific information on forms. The unit provides an efficient, cost effective way to register important documents with vital information such as the year, month, date and time. The heavy-duty ETC Time and Date Stamp is engineered to handle thousands of print registrations per day.
The ETC time stamp is basically an automatic print recorder. You simply insert a document, trip the auto sensor and the information you need is embedded onto the paper. The unit’s type wheels deliver a sharp clean imprint that will penetrate multiple copies.
