The feed tray is able to hold a stack of paper that is 50 sheets thick. The only downside of the Martin Yale P7400 is the shortcoming that afflicts all friction-style paper folders. It shouldn’t be used to fold glossy paper. If you’re in a business that uses a lot of slick, shiny paper then you’d be better off with a suction-feed paper folder.

As a result, the Martin Yale J1811 padding press has always been a popular piece of binding equipment for print shops, publishing houses and offices that just like making their own notepads.

The Martin Yale J1811 padding press is a quality binding tool that works well for small or large print shops.  This padding press is extremely simple for a user to operate and is designed to handle most small padding jobs, such as making carbonless forms, note pads and scratch pads. The Martin Yale J1811 creates these different types and sizes of stationery by holding the pages firmly in place while a binding adhesive is applied to the spine of the paper stack, creating pads that are up to 5 ¾ inches high and 17 ¾ inches wide.

Operating the Martin Yale J1811 padding press is extremely simple. The operator begins by adjusting the clamping clips on the padding press to provide ample room to insert the stack of paper to be bound. After the stack of paper has been jogged and aligned, the stack is placed on the work area of the padding press. The clamping clips should then be adjusted and locked into place to firmly hold the stack of paper to the padding press. Binding adhesive is then generously applied to the spine of the paper stack, and left to dry for 10-25 minutes. The time the adhesive takes to dry can vary based on how liberally it was applied. The new notepad can then be removed and divided into smaller pads if needed.

The Martin Yale J1811 padding press is made of durable metal, so it will provide years of use, and purchasers will easily recoup the costs of buying one. Another benefit to the operator is that all the settings can be adjusted by hand. No additional tools are necessary.

Waste Paper Shredding

Posted by: Morgan on April 21st, 2011

Intimus S16.50 High-Volume Paper ShredderQuestion

I work for a small office of around 40 people. We were looking to reduce our landfill waste by shredding tough paper (microwave lunch paper containers, paper coffee cups, etc). By shredding these products, we are able to keep them on site in our composting containers and they will biodegrade faster. Is there any product that is designed for this?

Andrew L.
Answer

We highly recommend the Intimus S16.50 High-Volume Paper Shredder. The model S16.50 will shred all of the tough paper products you listed. It will also easily tackle entire file folders, large stacks of computer printouts, cardboard pieces, employee time cards, and just about any other kind of office waste made out of paper.

The shredder’s wide 20-inch shred throat is ideal for destroying large volumes of paper at a time. The S16.50 paper shredder is available in either strip cut or cross cut shred styles. We recommend the cross cut version for your particular application.

$150 to Spend on an Automatic Paper Folder

Posted by: Morgan on April 18th, 2011

Martin Yale P6200 letter folderQuestion

Good morning,

We’re a very small family business, and I’ve been given $150 to spend on a paper folder. I found your website (which is an excellent site by the way) and am interested in the IF300. Do you happen to have a used machine that would fit within my budget?

Thanks for your consideration,

Tom W.

Answer

We currently do not have a used IF300 paper folder in your price range. However, if your small business is looking for an easy-to-use model for occasional business letter folding, the Premier P6200 Paper Folder by Martin Yale may just be the right choice for you. This versatile folder will fold three sheets of 20 lb. paper at a time. The P6200 was designed to fold an occasional letter or two. This particular model was not designed for continuous, high-volume letter folding. Most of our customers place the unit on a desk top for convenient access.

The Martin Yale P6200 has an optical sensor that automatically detects paper as it is placed inside the machine, activating the paper folding rollers. The P6200 is capable of only executing a letter fold (C fold), and is non-adjustable. If you are able to invest about $150 more, you can then get a paper folder than will do a variety of fold types.

Check Signing Machines

Posted by: Morgan on April 5th, 2011

Check Signing MachineQuestion

Dear Sir / Madam,

We are a firm of security printers, based in the UK. I have an overseas client that is interested in a machine for signing cheques. I note from your web site that you market various machines:

I understand, first of all, that these machines would be capable of printing a signature on to a cheque? Can you please confirm? I was wondering also if you could advise which model would be the most suitable for my customer.

We are tendering for the printing of their cheques, continuous format, size 3.1/3” x 215 mm wide (including sprockets), single part, and a quantity of 2,000 – 10,000. My client is in Africa and, with all due respect to them, would be looking for something cheap and cheerful, and not too complicated.

Could you please advise?

Regards,

Cas A.

Answer

Yes, all of the models listed will print a signature on to a check. However, some models are more automated than others. If you need a machine that’s affordable, yet capable of signing up to 10,000 checks, we recommend the Martin Yale 930A Check Signer.

Check signers are highly efficient and significantly increase productivity.  Some of our customers who now own an automatic check signer, had to in the past manually sign hundreds of payroll or accounts payable checks a week. A check signer machine can do it in minutes. Using check signing machines saves considerable time and prevents writer’s cramp.

Searching for Paper Folding Machine for Copy Center

Posted by: Morgan on March 23rd, 2011

Intelli-Fold DE-102AF Paper Folding MachineQuestion

We are looking for a cost effective replacement paper folder for use in our copy center.  In looking on the internet, I found the below options that I am providing to you as a reference only.  Please do not be restricted to those options.

Please provide product information for options that you believe we may be interested in.  If you offer warranty or service contracts on the equipment, please include that information as well.

With great appreciation for your anticipated efforts on our behalf…

Randy S.

Answer

The Martin Yale paper folding machines are certainly fine machines. Martin Yale products have a reputation for dependable performance and quality. However, the Intelli-Fold DE-102AF from Intelli-Zone is a much better fit for your copy center. This model can withstand demanding the high-volume paper folding jobs common with most copy centers. There are also a wide variety of folds you can do with this machine, from single to gate fold. The folding plates on the DE-102AF are easy to adjust too.

The recommended duty cycle of the DE-102AF is 12,000 folds per month. If you need to fold more than that, then Intelli-Zone offers more substantial models that can process twice that amount. All Intelli-Fold paper folding machines come with a one-year limited warranty, one of the most liberal warranties on the industry. We can also offer you a service contract on the machine. The service contract covers all non-wearable parts on the machine and labor.

What are 10-up and 12-up Business Card Cutters?

Posted by: Morgan on March 22nd, 2010

Question:

What is the difference between a 10-up and 12-up business card cutter? How are the business cards made?

Answer:

The difference between a 10-up and 12-up business card cutter is the design layout. A 10-up design lets you print 10 business cards on an 8-1/2 x Business Card Cutter11-inch sheet of paper, where a 12-up design will produce 12. Although most of the higher end business card cutters can handle both layouts, some are designed to specifically cut one format or the other. Be sure you find out the type you will be printing before purchasing a business card cutter.

Once your business cards are printed, cutting them is simple. The printed sheet is inserted into the cutter on the back side where it is sliced down the center. The two halves are then re-inserted into the business card cutter where the final cuts are made. We also have a a video demo of a manually operated business card cutter on our Web site.
